Alex Mayr-Landrecht, who prefers to go by Alex Mayr, is a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and Counsellor based in Shawnigan Lake, BC. She has been practising massage therapy since graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2012 and has been serving the Shawnigan Lake community since 2020. Upon graduation, Alex earned first place in the Massage Therapist Association’s annual clinical case report competition. Over the years, she has completed continuing education in yoga-informed care, Thai massage, perinatal treatment, and advanced anatomy and kinesiology. She has a special interest in perinatal care but enjoys working with people from all walks of life.

In 2025, Alex completed a Master of Counselling degree through City University of Seattle. She is currently counselling at Burn Bright Counselling in Victoria and offering accessible virtual counselling services to clients anywhere in British Columbia. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in cultural humility, authenticity, and a deep respect for each client’s lived experience. Alex is particularly passionate about working with 2SLGBTQA+ clients and those navigating identity, trauma, or life transitions. This trauma informed care is impossible to seperate from her RMT work.

Her academic background also includes an Advanced Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Selkirk College, 2019) and a Bachelor of Health Science (Thompson Rivers University, 2021). And in 2022, Alex studied Japanese on a full scholarship at Nagoya University of Foreign Studies in Japan—fulfilling a long-time goal delayed by the pandemic.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys travelling, gardening, snowboarding, dancing, language learning, and working on her home with her partner. She is committed to providing patient- and client-centred care, empowering individuals to take pride in their own healing and growth.
